Glutamine is the most abundant amino-acid within the body and is primarily stored and synthesized within the skeletal muscle. L-Glutamine is a non-essential or conditional amino acid. This means the body can sufficiently synthesis enough for normal cellular activity in normal situations. But many times the body is put under great metabolic stresses, like heavy training exercise, that can deplete the body of its natural stores of glutamine. In these situations, glutamine becomes an essential amino acid that needs to be supplemented, if the above stresses are apparent.
True Nutrition offers a fermented version of L-Glutamine over the usually synthetic version. The fermented version allows for an end product that is of a white powder consistency and has no taste. L-Glutamine is known for its actions in anticatabolic/anabolic activity and may have protective/antioxidant properties. It also has pronounced effects on health of the gut. So why take L-Glutamine? Glutamine increases intra-muscular stores of glutamine and increases the cell volume of the muscle. Glutamine also increases muscle protein synthesis, as well as decrease degradation of muscle protein. Glutamine may also increase plasma growth hormone levels as well.
